Environmental Hydrogeology

Examples of recent projects are as follows:

Aquaculture Development, Cape Cleveland, Qld

An assessment of the hydrogeological regime of an aquaculture development in a low-lying estuary environment was undertaken to assess if leakage from the ponds and salt-water canal could be impacting the adjoining property causing land degradation and die-off of salt-water couch. The work was undertaken in support of an application to EPA for a license to carry out an Environmentally Relevant Activity.

Petroleum Terminal, Eagle Farm, Qld

An environmental evaluation was undertaken for an established fuel terminal in Eagle Farm. Fuels storage had been undertaken at the site since the 1920's and an extensive review of the site history was necessary. The site history revealed the presence of filled creeks and drainage lines that were targeted with a drilling investigation. Free product plumes were mapped and advice on suitable remedial measures provided.

Groundwater Contaminant Transport Simulation, Bowen Hills, Qld

Prediction of the changes to the rate of contaminants discharge from the area of the old Campbell Street soap factory to the adjacent Enoggera Creek was undertaken prior to construction of the Brisbane Inner City Bypass (ICB). Simulation of the contaminants discharge was conducted using MODFLOW and MT3D models.
